Happy New Year! Here’s to a brilliant and productive 2022!

A time for relaxation

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you all had a good Christmas and were able to enjoy a lovely break.

Since the pandemic started, long holidays seem to be a distant memory. But this Christmas, I took the opportunity to enjoy a few weeks off and even had a small break from social media.

While you shouldn’t ever just abandon your social media accounts for months on end, and there certainly are advantages of posting consistently, taking a step away is something that can be beneficial for all of us from time to time. It’s vital for our mental health. Ideally, someone else would manage your social media during this time, but this isn’t always possible, especially for small businesses and freelancers.

As well as spending quality time with family and enjoying the obligatory Quality Streets, I also got outside in the New Forest for some fresh air and time in nature. I got in the kitchen too and turned my standard chocolate brownies into Terry’s Dark Chocolate Orange flavoured ones, which didn’t last long before family devoured them. But I also took some time just to slow down, rest and reset, ready for the new year ahead.

What did you enjoy over your Christmas break?

Reflecting on 2021

This time of year is also an opportunity to reflect on 2021 and what a year it’s been! Although we can say that it’s undoubtedly still been a challenge, with COVID still lingering on, lots of exciting things have happened.

I’ve entirely refreshed my business with a new website, stylish branding (thanks to the fantastic Meg at Lemon & Birch) and added exciting new services. I’ve continued working with some fantastic clients and started working with new brands. I’ve had so much joy through helping clients become clear on their social media goals. I’ve created several bespoke social media strategies and shared lots of advice to help business owners move forward with their social media activities more effectively and productively. While also trying to make it all feel less overwhelming.

What are your most significant achievements in 2021? Or what are you most proud of accomplishing?

Looking ahead to 2022

I’m now ready to get back to work, and I’m looking forward to the year ahead. I have some exciting new business additions on the way, which I will be working on over the next few months.

One of those projects is a digital course, helping businesses develop their own social media marketing strategy. It’s something I’ve wanted to start for a few years, but now is certainly the right time! I can’t wait to share more with you soon about my other projects and collaborations.

What are you most looking forward to in your business for 2022?

Getting More out of social media in 2022

As well as reflecting on 2021 and planning what’s ahead for your business, it’s essential to do the same for your social media activities. Ask yourself, “Is there anything that worked well in 2021 that you could do more of?” and “Is there anything that didn’t add benefit that you could stop in 2022?”.

Think about what you want to get out of your social media in 2022 too and how you can achieve this. Perhaps you’ve been saying for months that you want to create a social media strategy, but you’ve not put the time aside for it? Now is a great time to put the wheels in motion.

What would you like your social media activities to achieve this year?
